The KITPC 2009 MILC Code Tutorial

Introduction

This tutorial provides an introduction to the MILC code for lattice QCD calculations. It also provides a brief introduction to the ILDG. It is intended for researchers who are already familiar with the terminology of lattice gauge simulations and with standard Unix operations and who are interested in using the MILC code. There are two workshop presentations and two tutorial sessons.

MILC Code Basics This tutorial session introduces the MILC code, some of its input parameters, some of the Makefile options, and some compilation variations. Finally it shows how to download and unpack it.
MILC Code with ILDG This tutorial session shows how to browse the ILDG for gauge field configuration files, how to link the MILC code with SciDAC/C packages so you can read an ILDG lattice, and how to use the MILC code to do a simple calculation using an ILDG lattice.
