The view we would like to have of the Milky Way!
(M31: the Andromeda Galaxy, by Robert Gendler)

On these pages, you can learn about me and my work as an astronomer and educator. I study the stellar and interstellar components of the Milky Way Galaxy, especially in the most obscured (and most exciting!) regions of the Galactic center and the midplane.

I am also the Spokesperson for the upcoming SDSS-V survey, which will perform all-sky optical and infrared spectroscopy of millions of stars, star-forming regions, supermassive black holes, and galaxy clusters throughout the Universe. (See our initial description here.)
